Sunken Cheeks

Collagen is a protein and one of its essential functions is to give structural support in tissues. However, we gradually lose collagen as we age, resulting in losing volume in tissue, one of the obvious observations is the development of sunken cheeks.

Scientists recently tend to believe that the manifestation of ageing is not drooping skin but skin losing volume/skin depression. During the ageing process, our skin loses its collagen and subcutaneous fat which causes the loss of tissue volume and structural support in the skin. This change will make the skin uneven and depressed. Some common locations that show depression during ageing are forehead, temple, eye lid and cheek.

Causes

Other possible reasons for sunken cheeks:
